Lleyton Glynn Hewitt (born 24 February 1981) is an
Australian-born professional tennis player and former world No. 1 who is now
resident in The Bahamas.
Hewitt is the youngest male ever to be ranked No. 1 in the
world in singles, at the age of 20. His most notable career achievements
include winning the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon men's singles titles, the
2000 US Open men's doubles title, and back-to-back Tennis Masters Cup (now
called the ATP World Tour Finals) titles in 2001 and 2002. Hewitt made it to
the finals of the 2004 US Open, where he was defeated by Roger Federer. He has
contested 19 consecutive Australian Open men's singles tournaments, including
making it to the 2005 final where he was defeated by Marat Safin.
Awards and achievements:

Open (2001) beating Pete Sampras in the final. also won Wimbledon (2002), a
straight-sets win over David Nalbandian.
Marital status:
Hewitt began dating fellow tennis pro Kim Clijsters after
they come across at the 2000 Australian Open; the couple became engaged in
December 2003 but split in 2004.
On 30 January 2005, shortly after losing the 2005 Australian
Open final to Marat Safin, Hewitt proposed to Australian actress Bec Cartwright
after they had been dating for just six weeks. They married in 2005 and have
three children together.
